....Your statement..."typically people vote for the same party in both cases",... is not the case although this ought to have been. The fact is that in the Ghanaian political vocabulary we have something called "SKIRT AND BLOUSE" voting. This is how it works.. the ballot paper has both presidential and the MP columns to place your fingerprint when voting. You may hate your MP for some personal or obvious reason(s).. so decide not to vote for him at all, or vote for another aspiring MP candidate, but will certainly vote for the presidential candidate of your hated MP's party... This happened a lot in the Western and Central Regions.
