Like Father Like Son

The behaviuor of Abu Jinapor at the Institute of Economic Affairs (IEA) Debate when he brazenly went to verbally attack and threatened to deal with Hassan Ayariga, the Presidential candidate of PNC at the forecourt of the State House must no go without comment. It only goes to buttress the point that " Like Father Like son".

When the father of Abu Jinapor was sacked by the King of Gonjas as Chief of Buipe a town in Gonjaland after he pulled out a pistol at the Palace of the King in an attempt to fire at the him, many had their doubts that the incident really happened and defended the sacked Bupe Chief. We are told the gun failed to respond no matter how many times he tried to shoot. Sensing that his life was in danger, he took to his heels, leaving behind his chieftaincy regalia, sandals and other traditional ornaments and was pursued by the youth.

Abu Jinapor has only exposed his violent nature, a character trait that he learnt from his father. He has only exposed himself as boot-licker and a sycophant who will do anything to get attention from Nana Akufo-Addo. Yes we know Nana Akufo-Addo sent him to the Ghana Law School though he had a bad class from the University and payed his fees till he completed. But is that the way to support Nana Akufo-Addo by attacking people?

Abu Jinapor's father thought he was so powerful and challenged the King of Gonjas at every single meeting of the Gonja Traditional Council. His father thought he was so powerful because he felt he has the support of President Mahama. What is his fate now? He is simply a Chief over his household in Buipe with all the people of Buipe, Gonjas and the whole of the Gonja Traditional council backing the new Chief of Buipe the King of Gonja has enskinned.

Can a court make someone a Chief in Gonja? It would be recalled that in 2010, the Gonja Traditional Council at one of its major sittings unanimously agreed to de-skin the Buipewura Mahama Abdulai Jinapor following the gross disrespect towards the King of the Gonja Traditional Area, Yagbonwura Tuntumba Bore Essa Sulemana Jakpa I.

However, the embattled Buipewura, said the King and for that matter the Gonja Traditional Council of which he was a senior member, had no jurisdiction to de-skin him.

The Buipewura, who felt his fundamental human rights had been infringed upon, headed for court to have the decision of the Gonja Traditional Council overturned. He did succeeded.

An Accra High Court ruled in his favour and the Gonja Traditional Council asked to reinstate him to his position as substantive chief for Buipe (Buipewura) with all other privileges. He was also awarded damages by the court. There was another ruling by the Appeals Court in Kumasi dismissing a writ filed by the Gonja King against the Buipewura for continuously holding himself out as chief of Buipe. This has agaravated the situation in Buipe.

The double standards of this family is annoying a lot of people. Abu Jinapors father will always go to President John Mahama begging for favours. He will always brag that he has the support of President Mahama with regards to his sack as Chief of Buipe. Notwithstanding this Abu Jinapor will always go on Radio to say President Mahama cannot withstand any corruption test, he is tribalistic, he is reckless and he is irresponsible. What a shame!!
