Kennedy Agyapong Pleads For Clemency

The loud-mouth New Patriotic Party (NPP) Member of Parliament (MP) for Assin North, Kennedy Agyapong, who is under investigation for inciting Akan supporters of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to launch a genocidal attacks on Ewes and Gas in the Asante region, is pleading for clemency.

A source within the household of the embattled legislator, told *The True Statesman* that Ken made those comments out of anger and as such, the security agencies must tamper justice with mercy.

The source explained that other people across the political divide have made comments that could be interpreted as treasonable but the police have sat unconcerned, and that has infuriated Kennedy Agyapong.

“We are also worried that there seems to be some discrimination, in the comments that Ken Agyepong made because you can find aspects of those comments from various people across the political divide and we feel that the police can be even handed by inviting all those people who have made statements that can be interpreted as incendiary”, the source said.

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has since issued a statement condemning Kennedy Agyapong’s comments and expresses its readiness to cooperate with the police in their investigations into alleged the treasonable comments made by the Member of Parliament (MP) for Assin North.

It will be recalled that Kennedy Agyapong last Friday publicly called on the Asantes to massacre Ewes and Gas.

According to him, he has declared war on all Ewes living in the Ashanti region, and that the NPP activists in the region should attack Ewes with machetes and cutlasses. He warned that any security personnel who will try to keep the peace in the region will be lynched.

He has since been charged for treason.
