Former Minister In Tussle With Police

Peacefmonline can confirm that former Greater Accra Regional Minister, Nii Armah Ashitey has been involved in a showdown with the police at a polling centre in the Klottey-Korle constituency.

The former Regional Minister confirmed the incident in an interview with peacefmonline a short while ago.

According to Mr Armah Ashietey who is the NDCs Parliamentary candidate for the Klottey-Korle constituency, some electorates from Odododiodoo had crossed over to register at a polling centre sited within the premises of the Central MTTU, which happens to be part of his constituency.

He narrated that an attempt to challenge them led to a misunderstanding and near-chaos.

According to him, the MTTU Boss, ACP Angwutubuge Awuni, who appeared on the scene shouted him down and told him (Ashietey) to stop interfering with the registration. He further stated that his remonstration that allowing the Odododiodoo electorates to register in his constituency could have some form of impact in the December polls went unheeded.

A brief melee ensued as he stood his grounds and vowed not to let what he felt to be an illegality continue.

"To my surprise, the MTTU Boss told his junior officers to drag me out of the centre...even though i resisted, they forcibly pushed me out of the compound...," he said.
