Stock exchange ends year on a happy note

The Ghana Stock Exchange (GSE) All-Share Index ended the year on a happy note on Monday, ending slightly higher, in a year that was dominated by bearish sentiments.

The index, the main gauge of the bourse, went up by 0.11 points after slipping by 3.05 points on Friday. It ended the year at 955.95 points.

Change for the year was also slightly higher at 11.42 points from Friday's close of 11.41 per cent. The number of shares traded inched down at 6,000 from 6,100.

There was only one price change, a 40-cedi gain by Enterprise Insurance Company, which ended the year at 3,050 cedis. Market capitalisation closed the year higher on 3,904.03 billion cedis from Friday's close 3,903.83 billion cedis. The following are the closing prices of listed equities for the year in cedis:
