People of Kumasi should beware of John Mahama who imposed his Capitation grant on the region. Mahama also proposed to cripple Ashanti businesses by seeking to close every land border importations from Ivory Coast’s land frontiers and forward them to Tema Port instead . He wanted to do away with the decades old system of clearing imports through Gonokrom, Kofi Badu Krom and others! His 2016 election defeat saved the region from untold economic losses!
The move will have been costly for petty importers in the Ashanti region. The Bono people would’ve also feel the pinch, as well the Western North region because of the Oseikojokrom import hubs. Beware of John Mahama. He didn’t make an attempt to impose that in the Volta Region and the Upper East and West Region frontiers.
