Kufuor leaves for three-day state visit to Germany

Accra, Aug. 26, GNA - President John Agyekum Kufuor left Accra on Monday night for a three-day state visit to Germany, at the invitation of German President H=F6rst Kohler.

Mr Andrew Awuni, Press Secretary and Presidential Spokesman speaking to newsmen before departure, said the visit would afford President Kufuor an opportunity to express his appreciation to the German Government for its development support to Ghana and increased economic and political relations between the two countries. Ghana and Germany have excellent relations and good working co-operation on bilateral and multilateral levels resulting in reciprocal high level official visits.

Recently President H=F6rst Kohler and Deputy Chancellor Frank-Walter Steinmeyer visited Ghana.

Mr Awuni said highlights of the visit would include bilateral talks with German Chancellor Angela Merkel and President Kohler, meeting with German businessmen and other political leaders. President Kufuor who was seen off by Vice President Alhaji Aliu Mahama, Ministers of State, Lieutenant General J.B. Danquah, Chief of Defence Staff and Mr Patrick Kwarteng Acheampong, Inspector General of Police returns home on Saturday, August 30.
