Ghana Converges at the Grand Village

The organizers of the ‘Ghana as One’ gala night say it will stick out as one of the most memorable events this month of Jubilee. For six months, the planning committee has been working to ensure a great and well-laid out event, including proper parking, security and washrooms.

‘Ghana as One’ looks set to go down as the function that will be the centrepiece of the jubilee celebrations. On March 10, there will be a grand dinner at the Independence Square arena which will be transformed into a Golden Village for a grand dinner, dance & party.

The village will be designed as a huge stage with a catwalk platform to hold various extraordinary performances. The event is strictly formal and patrons are expected to turn up in colorful Kente outfits.

Kojo Antwi, Pat Thomas, C.K. Mann, Jewel Ackah and Paapa Yankson will bring an old school flavor, with Samini, Kwaku Gyasi and Ola Williams expected to electrify the atmosphere.

Internationally, the Whispers and Howard Hewitt of Shalamar fame will also be sassing up the stage in a once in a lifetime show. The garment industry will dazzle audiences with an exhibition of a colorful set of clothing with a spectacular catwalk show.

According to event producer and head of communications, PaJohn Bentsifi Dadson, “there will be many surprises on the night! From the moment you arrive, you will travel through Gold Coast to Ghana, through 1957 to 2007, from Kpanlogo to ‘messop’, from gari foto to fried rice, from Chooboi to Agoo! You’ve just got to experience it to appreciate it! We are going to pull everything to put on a good show. We want to bring Ghana right back into our hearts!”
