Why we put 'stop work' on Special Prosecutor’s office building – AMA explains

The Public Relations Officer (PRO), of the Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA), Gilbert Ankrah, has justified his outfits action in stopping the construction and renovation of the building for the Special Prosecutor.

According to Mr Ankrah, A.M.A is not targeting the Special Prosecutor but rather ensuring that the regulations regarding the construction of buildings and renovations are applied.

The office allocated for the use by the Special Prosecutor has been marked with “stop work and produce permit” inscription by the A.M.A.

Speaking in an interview on Adom News, Gilbert Ankrah, said that the Special Prosecutor must provide the A.M.A with permits before they would be allowed to continue with the renovation works and construction of the fence wall.

“The A.M.A is only doing its job and as an institution, we are only concerned about the need for the right thing to be done,” he stated.

He added that the contractor is not permitted by the record of the A.M.A to continue work.

“Until the necessary documents and the due processes are taken, they [contractors] will not be allowed to continue work,” he stated.
