Why? - A rant by Gifty Anti (Oheneyere)

Actually, it is my search for an answer to this question, 'WHY', that kept me awake at that ungodly hour, 2am to write this piece.

Why? Why do I keep doing this?

God knows I have my own challenges and needs...so why am I always desperate to help solve other people's challenges? Especially, when sometimes these same people we help..... Anyway that is another topic for another day ????.

You see, i started doing charity long before i became a journalist.  But becoming a journalist gave me a bigger platform and a more powerful tool to mobilise support to help others.

It also opened my eyes to the many challenges in our society.

I love doing charity, but to tell you the truth, every now and then i tell myself 'I am done!!.  I have done enough.  Let others also continue.  God knows i have tried.'

However, the very next day, i am out there seeking help for someone or people 'in need', i have encountered ????.

Why Lord?, why?  Because it is not easy always being out there begging for support for whatever cause.... You wonder, most of the time, what people are thinking, do they believe or trust you? Aren't you bothering them too much? That is why i always bombard you with pictures to prove that your donations have been used for the purpose i said it will be used for.

And as if i didn't have enough wahala, guess what? I went to marry a Chief of a little republic!!! Chai.

Why?  Lord,  Why me.

I am always 'threatening' my husband that 'i am not doing anything again'.  That i have done enough etc. ????????

Well, i have now resigned to my fate.

Maybe, this is how God created me. Maybe this is the life my father wished for me that's why he named me Gifty.
Maybe, God sent me to the little republic of Adumasa, at a time like this, for this purpose.  To identify some needs and use the platform and presence He has given me to help find solutions.

Now, let's talk...
What is making you ask yourself 'WHY'?
What is keeping you awake, praying, crying and asking God why? What sacrifices are you making, putting in your best.. and yet you are being taken for granted?

You know, sometimes what you need yourself, is so small, compared to what you are helping... what you are sacrificing for others... people you don't even know from anywhere.

Yet, there seems to be no one around to help you with your needs or challenges. It is as if God has turned a blind eye to your needs.

Oh, i know that feeling too well!! Trust me.. I live it constantly.... hmmm

Well, Unfortunately, i don't have the answer to your 'why'. But i know that no good deed goes unrewarded. It may not come from the people who you helped or sacrificed for. But God always, always rewards us.

The reward may not come in the form you expect, but He always rewards us.

So my dear, don't give up. It is normal to grow weary sometimes, but don't give up!!! Never!! As long as you have what it takes to help, do good or sacrifice,.. Don't give up.

'Doing Good' can be difficult and lonely, but it is Godly... It is Human.. It is rewarding in the end.

God is counting on you to 'rescue' someone in Need.

What about you? What about your own needs? Your time will soon come...

God is faithful....
