We'll resist removal of EC Chairperson - NDC

The Minority Leader in Parliament, Mr Haruna Iddrusu has said that the National Democratic Congress (NDC) will resist any attempt by the Akufo-Addo led government to remove the Electoral Commission Chairperson, Mrs Charlotte Osei from office.

According to him, the ploy by the Akufo-Addo government to get out the chairperson of the EC from office ought to be stopped by all concerned Ghanaians.

Addressing a press conference at the NDC headquarters in Accra on Thursday, Mr Iddrisu said the NPP government has sacked many people who were appointed to head state institutions under the NDC era within its first six months in office.

He therefore cautioned President Akufo-Addo and his government not to extend their 'sacking spree' of public servants to the EC.

According to him, he (Akufo-Addo) should not "extend his encroachment and political polarisation to EC".

He also called on development partners and donors to call Akufo-Addo and his government to order and expressed worry about the political polarisation of the public service.
