We blame ourselves for USA defeat - Captain Gyan

Ghana captain, Asamoah Gyan says the Black Stars must carry the blame for last night’s defeat to the USA because they failed to maintain a high level of concentration.

Ghana were beaten 2-1 by the Yanks in Natal in their opening Group G campaign at the 2014 FIFA World Cup.

Clint Dempsey’s 30th second goal and John Brooks’ last minute header sandwiched Andre Ayew’s 82nd minute goal as the USA avoided a third straight defeat to Ghana.

Striker, Asamoah Gyan, believes Ghana could have earned at least a point if they had remained focused especially in the final minutes.

“In football, things happen. We lost today and have to a concede defeat. The Americans were not better than us, but the early goal rather disturbed our game plan.

“We thought we were dominating the game, but we lost a bit of concentration and conceded a goal through a set piece. We have to blame ourselves,”

The Black Stars will next play against Germany on Saturday, before wrapping up their Group G campaign against Portugal.
