Vote for me come December 7 so we occupy all the seats in parliament – Akufo-Addo

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has urged Ghanaians to vote for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) come December 7, so they occupy all the seat in parliament.

His comment comes in reaction to the minority's walkout just before the State of the Nation Address.

The Minority side which earlier announced they will be boycotting the sitting made their way out just as the national anthem ended.

This is to express their frustration about the delay of their share of the Common Fund for the third quarter of 2019, as they say it is delaying the execution of projects in their constituencies.

However, in a concluding remarks, Akufo-Addo said “…Things are working in Ghana and Ghana is surely working. The message of the State of the Nation is that our nation is in good health and in good competent hands. My party and I know the nature of the task before us on the 7th of December, that is to occupy all these seats, that's our task."

This year’s State of the Nation Address is Akufo-Addo’s fourth and last in his first term as president of the republic.

His address is in accordance with Article 67 of the 1992 Constitution of the Republic of Ghana and the Standing Orders of the Parliament of Ghana.

The address is to update Ghanaians on the government’s progress and outline plans for the next financial year.

The president’s speech covers, in broad terms, areas such as the economy, education, health, security and infrastructure.
