Vodafone Omnifert Tafo Open tee-off on December 7

This year’s Tafo Open Golf Championship will tee-off, at the Cocoa Research Institute of Ghana Golf Course at Akim Tafo in the Eastern Region on Friday, December 7 and end on Saturday, December 8.

Nii Ashitey, Captain of the Tafo Golf Club, who disclosed this to the GNA Sports, on Sunday, said about 120 golfers and guests were expected to participate in the two-day 36-Hole Scratch event.

He said the competition, which was being played in accordance with the world’s golf governing body and the local rules of the Tafo Golf Club, was being sponsored by Vodafone Ghana in collaboration with Omnifert Ghana.

Nii Ashitey said, among an array of golfers expected to participate in the competition were Prince Kofi Amoabeng, President of the Tafo Golf Club, Okyenhene, Osagyefo Amoatia Oforipanyin, Mike Aggrey, President of the Ghana Golf Association and Dr S.K. Oppong, former Captain of the Tafo Golf Club.

The Ladies section, would also witness stiff opposition from Mona Captan, Myles Lamptey, Jessica Tei and Clara Price, all of the Achimota Golf Club.

He said the management had put in place all the necessary measures to ensure that the Course was playable.

Nii Ashitey added that about 16 prizes had been put in place in the various categories and advised the participants to work very hard to excel.

There would also be prizes for the ‘Longest Drive’ as well as ‘Nearest To the Pin’ on various Holes.

Officials of Vodafone Ghana and Omnifert are expected to grace the occasion.
