VRA PRO to contest in NDC primaries

The Head of Corporate Communications at the Volta River Authority (VRA), Sam Fletcher has declared his intentions to contest in the upcoming National Democratic Congress (NDC) primaries in the Gomoa West constituency in the Central Region.

The NDC has opened nominations for its Parliamentary primaries and scores of personalities within the party have expressed their interest to contest.

Speaking to Citi News, Sam Fletcher said he will continue serving in his current role at VRA as he maps out a strategy to unseat the incumbent MP.

“I have decided to do that after having considered a number of things. Considering the challenges in my constituency, my own strengths and capabilities with regards to the experiences I have gained over the years and the expertise that I posses and what I believe I can use to help drive some good development into my constituency,” he stated.

Sam Fletcher has been a member of the party for some time now and has served as the party’s General Secretary, the Deputy Chairman of the Central Regional Communications Committee and Vice Chairman to the Minister of Trade and Industry, Dr. Ekow Spio Garbrah.

He will be challenging the NPP’s Cynthia Morrison if he is endorsed to contest on the ticket of the party in 2016.

Apart from Mr. Fletcher, others including ace broadcasters Abeiku Santana and Alhaji Suhini have expressed their interest to contest.

In a related development, a retired soldier and member of the party, Lieutenant Daniel William Osardu has vowed to unseat Member of Parliament for the Awutu Senya constituency, Hanna Tetteh.

He claims the incumbent has lost touch with residents of the constituency and it will not be safe to field her to contest for the position on the party’s ticket.
