A lecturer at the University of Ghana, Dr Paul Kwame Butakor, has been captured in BBC’s yet to be released documentary on sex for grades at top universities in the West African sub-region.

The exposé, conducted by BBC Africa Eye reveals how the UG lecturer dishonourably requested to be the undercover journalist’s ‘side guy,’ after the latter posed as a final year student interested in pursuing her master’s degree.

During their private encounter, Dr. Butakor offered to give her a National Service work placement in his department if she accepts to be his side chick and promised not to give her problems as he will respect her boundaries.

According to him, although the deadline for applications has passed, he’s willing to sacrifice for her if the girl accepts his proposal.

Dr Butakor, harassing the girl said, “How many guys have told you you’re beautiful today? Let me be your side guy? Men have side chicks..maybe you’ll be my side and I will also be your side. Because me, I’m married, my wife is not in the country though, my wife is out of the country.”

“No distractions, your focus should be on your career. Then the side will see how best he can also contribute to your career and make you to become a better person. Let me be your side, your side guy ok? I will not give you trouble. Seriously I will not give you trouble, I will not give you trouble. I will not be a distraction to your life. Let me be your side guy?” he repeatedly asked.

Excerpts so far released by the media giant on their website captures incidents of sexual harassment by a Nigerian lecturer, Dr Boniface Igbeneghu, at University of Lagos and Dr Butakor of the University of Ghana.

BBC disclosed how the female reporters who posed as students were sexually harassed, propositioned and put under pressure by senior lecturers at the institutions, all the while wearing secret cameras capturing every moment.
