Executive Director of the Parliamentary Network Africa, Sammy Obeng , who has described the Members of Parliament (MPs) assessment report from the Political Science Department of the University of Ghana as worrying, says it must be a wake-up call for parliamentarians and Ghanaians.

“We should be worried and the MPs should start revising their notes,” he noted.

According to Mr Obeng, the report is an indication that about 180 MPs risk losing their seat in the upcoming 2020 election which calls for much work to be done.

Speaking in an interview on Accra-based Citi FM, the analyst said the report must be a worry to both Ghanaians and the MPs.

“They (MPs) are penalised for not going to their constituencies but there are structures that have been put in place in Parliament that MPs need to take advantage of to make themselves visible to the constituents.

“In this era of technology, they need to make their constituents realise what they are doing as MPs,” he added.
