UEW Saga: Vice Chancellor, Afful-Broni dragged to court

A Private Legal Practitioner, Theophilus Ade-Kpodzo has filed a suit against the Vice Chancellor of the University of Education, Winneba, Rev. Father Prof. Anthony Afful-Broni.

Mr. Kpodzo is contesting the legality of Rev. Afful-Broni occupying the VC position of the University.

According to him, the VC is unqualified to hold such position highlighting a number of reasons to back his claims.

“As per the statutes, anybody who holds that office, must hold it for a continuous term of four years. By September 2020, Afful-Broni will be 60 years by which time he’s not completed the four years.

“As per the statutes again, whenever somebody is to be invested in to that position of a Vice Chancellor, that somebody must be the most senior Dean. So when that position became vacant, one Prof. Samuel Asiedu Addo was the most senior Dean, but out of malice, out of ill-intention, out of bad faith, the Council invested afful-Broni as the Vice Chancellor…these things are not in consonance with good governance,” Theophillus Ade-Kpodzo told Accra-based Citi FM.
