The school must mould character of youth into responsible adulthood- Dr. Sowa

The Western Regional Coordinator on HIV/AIDS, Dr. Ronald Sowa, has said the school is an important place to mold and develop the character and attitudes of the youth to blossom into responsible adulthood and ensure a successful family life.

He said parents must therefore complement the efforts of school authorities by educating and training their children at home and also be seen as role models in society.

Dr. Sowa was speaking at a symposium on the topic" Family Life Education", as part of the 27 anniversary celebrations of the Methodist Senior High School at Sekondi.

He appealed to parents not to suppress the potentials of their children but team up with the schools to discover the latent capabilities of their children.

Speaking on the topic,"Sex Education In Schools", the Assistant Headmistress of Takoradi Secondary School, Rev. Elizabeth Akuoko, expressed wary that children around age five are now exposed to sex and this puts their future in jeopardy and called on stakeholders in education to factor sex education into the syllabus.

Rev. Akuoko said eight girls who wrote this year's BECE were pregnant.**
