The State must prosecute Baffour Gyan – Dr Nyaho Tamakloe

“Even if the complainant no longer wishes to pursue the matter, I think the State has a vested interest in prosecuting Baffour Gyan and his accomplice. To me this is a criminal case,” he stated.

Dr Tamakloe further stated that “This attack was not an attack on one person, it was an attack on a democratic institution and am talking about the Graphic itself.”

Meanwhile, speaking on the same programme, Lawyer Yaw Oppong, a private legal practitioner indicated that prosecuting an assault case largely depends on the complainant.

He explained; “when an offense is committed against an individual it is the individual who determines whether the case is sent to court or not. There are certain kind of offenses that …the persons involved may be given the opportunity to settle the matter out of court.”
