About 12 years ago, a group of people from Suame constituency in Ghana residing in New York, New Jersey Metropolitan of the USA decided come together to formed a non-profit socio economic association to help the needy people in Ghana. The association started on 5th May 1998 at the current vice- president Kwadwo Boadu’s apartment. It is a testament after many tries and failure. The successes of the Abusua were the persons appointed to lead the organization from the start. Suame Abusua success story is not a nine-day wonder.
The Abusua has experienced its fair share of failure as in many Ghanaian associations scattered all over the USA. But in all this the lessons learned has made the association much stronger as evidenced in its baby successes. Before enumerating the success of the association, let us take this opportunity to mention a couple of person whose dedication and hard work has seen the association through the past 12 years.
The entire old executives under the presidency of Mr. Awuah, particularly Ama Konadu Genfi who has handed the finances of the association with such excellence. Also mention must be made of William Ampiah whose position as assistant secretary for the past 12 years cannot be ignored. Also our Abusua members from New Jersey especially the Brenyah Family, Martha Konadu Boadu, Frank Osei Bonsu, Kwaku Duah(AB African Market ), Mary Tawiah, Alex Gyamfi, Maame Yaa Adowa, Mavis Agyeman Yeboah, Mr. Baffour Awuah, Mr. Michael Sarfo, Kwabena Antwi, Kwabena Domfeh Gyamfi.
In confirming to the aims of the association, the Abusua in the company of the Ashanti Unity in the year 2007 sent some computers to local schools in the Suame District. A follow up to this, is the school project which the current executive under the leadership of Kwabena Amakye undertook last 2years. As evidence in the picture the building (school) can not sit idle while the purpose of the project sits in completed.
The funds being solicited for now would be used in providing computers for the school building. In addition to provide other schools needs like, books and other supplies. The association would therefore be grateful if citizens of Suame district and the whole Ghanaian community in the USA would contribute towards this project. It would go a long way in helping our disadvantaged brothers and sisters’ back home that can not provide for their children.
We received two letters from the Assemblyman and the head teachers of the schools that benefited from our first computers donated. Your modest donation is well appreciated. But there are still more need to be met, we pray for God’s mercy and blessing upon your life so that you do more in the future. As we all can see there is no future without now and as the president, I can say that the future is now. As a result I appeal for your help in completing the project.
Thank you and God Bless
President,
Nana Kwabena Amakye
