Thanks To President Nana Addo For The Nomination Of Hon. Solomon Boar As The Deputy Northern Regional Minister

Following the overwhelming electoral victory of president Nana Addo Dankwah Akufo Addo, there has been enormous pressure heaped on the president from people jostling for appointments. The president promised to be father for all. So far, his appointments have really vindicated him. Not only is he putting together the best government ever assembled in the country, he is also blending competence with the need for ethnic, regional, religious, gender and other important considerations relevant for national cohesion.

The nomination of Hon. Solomon Boar as the deputy northern regional minister has been the most pleasant news in more than a decade for we the constituents of Bunkpurugu Constituency and by extension the Bunkpurugu-Yunyoo district. Hon. Solomon Boar is highly regarded in the northern region because of his political dynamism, honesty, development orientation, his bridge-mending attitude and above all, his approachability.

Before the advent of Hon. Solomon Boar in the political landscape of Bunkpurugu, the constituency could be classified as the second ‘world bank’ of the NDC outside of the Volta Region. Not ever has anyone from a different political persuasion from the NDC come close to winning it. However, history was to be made in the 2012 elections when from an underdog rating, Hon. Solomon Boar won the seat for the first time for the New Patriotic Party (NPP). The jinx of the NDC was broken by kind courtesy of Solomon Boar.
We are excited about the huge responsibilities placed on the shoulders of our Hon. Member of Parliament because we know he is more than capable of performing the roles of a deputy minister.

We voted for him in 2012 to represent us in parliament. He did not disappoint us even though his political party was in opposition. We believe that with the kind of development he brought to us even in opposition, he will be able to assist the president and the northern regional minister to do more for the whole region, now that he is party of government. He is blessed to be asked to assist another peace-loving, kind hearted and humble person in the person of the northern regional minister, Hon. Salifu Saeed. On the sidelines, we will continue to pray for them and encourage them as citizens and not spectators.

The northern region is plagued with underdevelopment, chieftaincy conflicts and sometimes inter-tribal wars. With the dynamic peace-loving duo of Hon. Salifu Saeed and his deputy, Hon Solomon Boar, we are more than optimistic that they will endear themselves to the people and build confidence in institutions for these ills to be cured so as to give way for the implementation of the developmental agenda of President Akufo Addo and the New Patriotic Party. I must say that something positive is already yielding in that regard by courtesy of the already sworn in regional minister.

In conclusion, I will like to reiterate our appreciation to the President for this rare privilege of nominating a Bimoba man to deputize the northern region. This bold step has not been taken by any president in the Fourth Republic. The nomination of our competent Member of Parliament has generated a renewed confidence in us as a people. We feel that we belong, we feel that someone in power cares for us and above all, we are proud that for a very long we’ve been neglected by the NDC only for President Nana Akufo Addo and the NPP to embrace us unreservedly.
