There was drama in the wee hours of Tuesday April 16 at Amanful West in Takoradi, when a man who broke into the living room of a tenant told him he only went there to take a nap.

According to the suspected thief, he intended to continue a journey he was embarking on in the night after he wakes up from his nap.

The suspect, 37 year old Yusif Cobbinah is believed to have sneaked into the room to steal around midnight when there was a total black out in the entire Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolis.

“I heard an unusual noise in the room that woke me up, only to see an image lying flat on the floor” the tenant, Anthony Atobrah narrated on Connect FM’s Omanbapa morning show.

“I then started shouting to attract neighbours to the scene but sensing danger, the suspect started struggling with me and in the ensuing struggle, he nearly threw me down from the top floor of the two storey building but for the timely intervention of a security man nearby” Mr Atobrah narrated.

When the suspect was questioned by the tenant as to what he was doing in the room, he said he was travelling, but due to poor visibility, he wanted to take some nap before he continues the journey.

With the assistance of the Assembly Member of the area, Charles Kweku Danso, the suspect was overpowered, arrested and sent to the market circle police station

At the police station, the suspect was identified by the police as a very notorious thief.

He has since been placed in custody and will soon be processed for court.
