Representatives of the Ashanti Region in the Girls Division of the 2019 Sprite Ball Championship have impressed thus far in the first phase of the competition.

Kumasi Girls Senior High School has topped Group A with back to back wins over Mfantsiman Girls Senior High School and West Africa Senior High School (WASS).

Defending champions Kumasi Girls scored a 43-16 win over Mfantsiman before delivering a 12-11 win over WASS in a hard-fought matchup.

Kumasi Girls held an 8-6 first-half lead and was made to work hard for its third win at the group stage via the one point advantage.

Winning three games surely puts Kumasi in the semifinals and two wins from successfully its 2018 title and be the first team to do so in the division since 2015.

St. Louis Senior High School recorded another big win courtesy a 29-14 win over Nkawkaw Senior High School on its return to the Sprite Ball Championship.

Prior to this year’s competition, St. Louis last played at Sprite Ball in 2011.
