Hon. Kwadwo Banahene Bediako, therefore, urged the people especially the youth to change their view about Agriculture and start seeing it as a full-time business that could earn them good money.
“Do not look down on yourselves…farming is not a punishment, neither is it for illiterates. …It’s a full-time profession for educated and uneducated persons”, he pointed out.
“Every equipment needed to establish these factories are in town already”, Hon. Kwadwo Banahene Bediako added.
He also encouraged farmers in the area to utilize the services of extension officers who are being paid by the government to assist them.
“Make use of their free services. Monies the government get from the exportation of cocoa beans are used to pay them every month”
The farmers were also asked not to sell their cocoa beans to only unauthorized agents as the government outlined some plans including scholarship packages to assist their wards and ensure developmental projects within their locality.
Earlier, the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, ordered all traditional rulers in Asanteman to make land available for the implementation of the government’s One-District One-Factory initiative.
