... Raises Money For Ghanaian Hospitals and Clinics
Chicago, Saturday August 23, 2008: - Prestige Society African Women Achievers of Chicago( PSAWAC) had another successful fundraising cook out at the Jackson Park, 62nd and Stony Island in grand style.
PSAWAC is a non-profit organization, was formed in 2002 by a few Ghanaian women in Chicago. Their aim is to help as many under-privileged deserving Ghanaian children both at home, in Ghana and in the Chicago metropolitan area. To date they have awarded scholarships, provided sponsorship to under-privileged kids in Ghana,donated condoms to the HIV/AID Clinic in Korle Bu, mattresses, bed sheets, electronic thermometers to the children?s ward of the Polyclinic wing of Korle Bu teaching Hospital in Accra . The main financial support for their programs are donations from members of the organization and periodic fundraising such as the picnic.
The Korle Bu Polyclinic is still in need of Bed sheets, Wheel chairs, Drip stands, Suctions machines, Electronic thermometers, Trolleys, Flow-meters, and Diagnostic sets. Any donation to this end will be welcome.
?We use 100 % of our donations for the intended purpose,? said Mrs. Pat Nunoo, Secretary of the Society. ?We encourage all to donate generously to help us assist the poor and the underprivileged in Ghana and Chicago?, she continued. Despite the periodic showers, the cookout was very well attended; members of the community who were present had an unforgettable excitement and memories of the day.
