President reviews change of military guard at Flagstaff House

President John Dramani Mahama has reviewed a ceremony to handover the guard duties at the seat of government, the Flagstaff House, from the Navy to the Infantry Brigade.

The Infantry will be in charge for one month before handing over to the Air Force. Tuesday's change of guard is the first of such ceremonies open to the public.

It was a colourful ceremony at the forecourt of the Flagstaff House and watched by many including the Chief of Staff, the Chief of Defence Staff and other Service Commanders.

President Mahama arrived to work through the ceremonial gate to the playing of the national anthem by the Central Band, before proceeding to the viewing balcony to review the ceremony.

It has been decided that the change of guard should be opened to the public, and will be taking place monthly.
