Police hierarchy needs security of tenure - Kwesi Pratt

Kwesi Pratt Jnr says the hierarchy of the Ghana Police Service needs security of tenure for them to able to deal with the emerging political violence in the country.

Speaking on Radio Gold's "Alhaji&Alhaji" on Saturday, October 28, the editor of the Insight Newspaper said protecting the tenure of the hierarchy of the Police Service will be the surest way to get them to work in the interest of the public.

The proactiveness of the Ghana Police Service in fighting crime in the country has been questioned by many who believe the service is not leaving up to expectation. In the case of the Delta Force 13, the Police Service service has been accused of not doing due diligent in coming up with the right investigations to get them behind bars.

According to Kwesi Pratt Ghanaians should not expect more from the Ghana Police Service because the tenure is not secured and the hierarchy cannot work against the appointing authority.

He said this reactive attitude has emboldened a lot of people to take the laws into their own hands because the Police will always sit and watch until the public start complaining about.
