The Ghanaian Battalion (GHANBATT 15) serving with the United Nations Organization Stabilization Mission in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (MONUSCO), have been urged to seek God since it was the surest way to succeed.

Mr Joseph Kwaku Antwi, Ghana’s Ambassador to the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC)said this at the MONUSCO GHANBATT 15 Religious Church Parade held at the weekend to induct the Commanding Officer (CO) Lt Col Sebastian Abraham Arhin and also consecrate the colours.

A statement issued by Captain Senanu Edward Akakpo, Press Information Officer, GHANBATT 15 and copied to the Ghana News Agency said the ceremony was held at the GHANBATT headquarters, Incal Complex - Kinshasa.

Mr Antwi was also of the belief that GHANBATT 15 will succeed in its assigned task and responsibility to enable it to add its name to the prestigious list of GHANBATT’s that have made their marks in the area of Peace Support Operations.

The joint service conducted by the GHANBATT Imam Lt (Imam) AA Sharfudeen Kamany, and the Chaplin Rev Capt GK Gustafson-Asamoah under the theme: "If the Foundation Be Destroyed".

The Imam charged troops and commanders at various levels to be led by the desire to seek justice in all their endeavours and exhibit good conduct and kindness to all.

Rev Capt GK Gustafson-Asamoah, in his sermon, implored leaders, who symbolized the foundation of the battalion, to uphold the tenets of fairness, equity, compassion and justice in the running of the affairs of the GHANBATT.

It would be recalled that MONUSCO GHANBATT 15 was inserted into the operational theatre on Thursday March 21, 2019 with the mission to support the government of the DRC to reduce threats to civilians by negative forces and increase the capability of the DRC security forces to deal with threats in order to create the conditions for sustainable peace and secured environment.
