Patrick Twumasi promises to help Alavés to succeed

Promising Ghanaian star, Patrick Twumasi, says he will work hard to justify his acquisition by Deportivo Alavés and also help the club succeed.

Twumasi, who signed a four-year deal with the Spanish La Liga side on Thursday from Kazakhstani side Astana FC, said at his first official press conference at Estadio De Mendizorrotza on Monday that he worked hard to earn the opportunity to play for his new club.

"The coach has given me a lot of motivation to work here; Alavés is a very important team and I have worked very hard to have this opportunity," the 24-year-old forward told the media.

"I have had a very warm welcome by the fans, I am very happy to be here and I am going to do everything I can to help the team and make the fans feel proud."

Alavés manager, Sergio Fernández, extolled the Ghanaian’s qualities and said he would be an asset to his team.

“Twumasi is a player who will provide us with versatility, speed ... it's a satisfaction to have players who, from the first minute, understand that this protector [manager] is going to help them grow as footballers,” Fernandez said.

Twumasi, who has made just two appearances for Ghana, will be in good company at Alavés as he teams up with compatriot and Black Stars midfielder Mubarak Wakaso.

Later, the forward was introduced to a select group of Alavés supporters at an exclusive “meet and greet” event organised at the Mendizorrotza Stadium where they had first-hand opportunity to interact with the new star.
