Parliamentary aspirant promises to establish guidance and counselling centres

Senfi (Ash), Nov. 22, GNA - Mr. Joe Osei-Wusu, 46, an independent parliamentary aspirant for Bekwai Constituency, has said that he would establish guidance and counselling centres in some strategic communities in the Bekwai area if voted for on December 7. He said the centres would assist in sensitizing the youth on career development to ensure that they harness and utilize their potentials to benefit of the nation. Mr. Osei-Wusu said this at a parliamentary debate, organized by the Ghana Centre for Democratic Development (CDD) in Collaboration with the Ghana Federation of the Disabled, under the theme "Promoting Issue-Based Campaigns", at Senfi near Bekwai in the Ashanti Region. Other participants included Mr. Erasmus Boateng, 48, contesting on the ticket of the People's National Convention (PNC), Mr. Ben Atta-Hayford, 28, contesting on the ticket of the Convention People's Party (CPP) and Mr. Noah Asante-Manu, 58, contesting on the ticket of the National Democratic Congress (NDC). Mr. Osei-Wusu said the youth played a crucial role in national development and issues concerning them should be taken seriously. He said he would liaise with stake holders in development to uplift the standard of living of the youth if voted into office as Member of Parliament. Mr. Osei-Wusu said he would initiate programmes to improve education in the Constituency. On agriculture, he promised to work with financial institutions in the country for the granting of loans and credit facilities to farmers to enable them to increase productivity. Mr. Erasmus Boateng, said that the PNC was the only alternate party capable of revamping the nation's economy and called on the electorate to vote massively for him in the elections. He promised to ensure unite the people towards the development of the area and to ensure that feeder roads were upgraded to facilitate economic activities. Mr. Ben Atta-Hayford said that he would collaborate with investors to revitalise the oil palm industry in the constituency to create jobs for the youth. Mr. Noah Asante-Manu said the NPP Government had disappointed Ghana as it had failed to deliver on its campaign promises and urged the electorate to vote for him to enable him to carry out his plans for the development of the area. 22 Nov. 08
