Parliament to replace tattered national flags

Parliament says it has sent a request to the appropriate government agency to replace tattered national flags in front of the House.

The national colours on the flagpoles between the Banquet Hall and Parliament House in Accra are faded and tattered, showing signs of no attention or maintenance for years.

Speaking to Citi News, the Director of Public Affairs of Parliament, Jones Kublenu said, although the maintenance of such logistics like the flags do not fall under the jurisdiction of Parliament, it will take immediate steps to ensure that the flags are changed.

“It is the responsibility of the Public Works Department to ensure that things are changed with immediate effect. From time to time, they should go round and look at those that can be changed and change them immediately.”

According to him, “Parliament tries as much as possible to draw the attention of the controller’s department to problems such as these."
