Obeng Kwabena wins Dzorwulu Central District Assembly elections

Mr. Obeng Kwabena has emerged the winner of the District Assembly elections at the Dzorwulu Central, a subset of Ayawaso West Wuogon constituency.

Obeng Kwabena was declared the winner by a landslide victory with 215 total votes after vote collation and counting as he contested with Sidney Karboe, Shirley Ablakwa and John Kwaku Appiah.

Speaking in an interview with GhanaWeb, an excited Obeng Kwabena said; “I feel very good today and for today being the first time of contesting for the district assembly elections and I have come out successfully and I want to specially thank everyone in Dzorwulu that has supported me.”

He however expressed his disappoint due to the cancellation of the referendum, adding that it had affected voter turn-out as various other polling stations recorded very low turnout across the country.

A very jubilant Obeng Kwabena assured the people of Dzorwulu that he will deliver on every promise and commitment he has made to them during his campaign.

“I am going to deliver; I am going to serve them and serve them very well” he assured.



This year’s District Assembly and Unit Committee Elections, recorded a massive low voter turnout despite vigorous campaigns from aspirants.

Checks by GhanaWeb however revealed less than 10 percent of voter turnout in the Dzorwulu Municipal Assembly area.

Many polling stations did not have half of voters trooping in to vote for their desired Assembly Members with presiding officers and aspirants blaming the situation on the lack of interest by citizens.

Ghanaians, today December 17 went to the polls to elect their Assembly Members and Unit Committee members across the country.

The Electoral Commission said it had deployed some 58,000 biometric verification devices, 159,000 trained electoral officers as well as the voter registers for all polling stations across the country for the elections.
