National Chief Imam calls on Parliament, presents copies of biography to Speaker

The National Chief Imam, Sheikh Osman Nuhu Sharubutu has presented copies of his recently-launched biography A Gift To A Nation to the Speaker and leadership of Parliament.

The Eminent Chief Imam made the presentation when he paid a courtesy call on the Speaker of Parliament in Accra on Tuesday.

Mike Ocquaye, as well as the leadership of Parliament including Majority Leader Hon. Osei Kyei Mensah-Bonsu, Minority Leader Hon. Haruna Iddrissu and Minority Chief Whip Hon. Mohammed Muntaka.

The National Chief Imam commended Parliament for its crucial role in the nation’s governance, and he urged them to continue to represent the people well in the discharge of their duties.

The Speaker of Parliament, Prof. Mike Ocquaye thanked Sheikh Sharubutu and his delegation for the historic visit to Parliament.

Prof. Ocquaye lauded Sheikh Sharubutu for his contribution to religious tolerance in the country, describing him as a father of the nation..

“The Chief Imam is a man who has survived many political regines and lived well with them. He is a man who has earned the recognition as a father of a nation,” said Prof. Mike Ocquaye.

“We respect your contribution to this country; promoting religious tolerance. We are really glad that you are here on this occasion.”

Majority Leader, Osei Kyei-Mensah Bonsu also commended Sheikh Sharubutu for his role in the nation’s development.

“The position of the Chief Imam is not by accident. He has emerged as a symbol of religious tolerance. He has contributed enormously to the stability of this country,” said Hon. Osei Kyei Mensah-Bonsu.

The Majority Leader also lauded other religious leaders “who have Good at heart” for their combined efforts in ensuring stability in the coubtry.

On his part, Minority Leader Hon. Haruna Iddrissu also acknowledged the contribution of Sheikh Sharubutu to national development, as well us his exemplary character. He urged all,p particularly Muslims to emulate the unifuin and tolerant character of Sheikh Osman.

“To you the Muslims, let us learn from the Sharubutu example, urged Haruna Iddrissu.

Sheikh Sharubutu presented to the Speaker autographed copies of his biography, which was described as “a real gift to the nation” by the Speaker.
