NPP masterminded Arthur K’s defeat – Tarzan

The founder of the United Ghana Movement (UGM) Dr Charles Wereko-Brobbey, has accused the New Patriotic Party (NPP) of masterminding the defeat of Dr. Arthur Kennedy in the party’s 2012 parliamentary primaries.

Dr. Arthur Kennedy who was the party’s Communication Director for the 2012 elections, contested the primaries for the parliamentary seat of the Abura-Asebu Kwamankese constituency.

He however lost to another member of the party, Joe Acquah Markin.

According to Dr. Wereko-Brobby, whose membership of the main opposition party is currently under contention, Arthur Kennedy "wanted to become an MP, people conspired to make sure that he was defeated in the primaries.”

The former VRA boss alleged that the conspiracy was hatched after the launch and subsequent distribution of Arthur K's book - Chasing the Elephant into the Bush - which chronicles the defeat of the party in the 2008 general elections.

Dr. Wereko-Brobbey described his compatriot as one of the people who worked and fought for the party and the nation as a whole.

“Some people in the party brook no opposition, they brook no divergent views and this is the party of free expression; a party of the Danquah Busia tradition; freedom, diversity, rule of law and due process,” he said.
