NDC shooting: Police allegedly vandalize home of wanted ‘Hawks’ member

A member of the pro-opposition NDC Vigilante group, the ‘Hawks’ Sani Mohammed who has been declared wanted by the Police following the shooting incident at the NDC Ashanti Regional office, has had his house vandalized allegedly by suspected police officers.

Six suspected policemen in mufti driving in a police vehicle stormed Sani Mohammed’s residence at Kronum Afrancho to arrest him but met his absence.

According to Bompah Razak, brother of Sani Mohammed, the police officers vandalized properties including Wardrobe, flat screen TV set and also shot to death a bulldog in the house.

“The police broke the gate and entered the corridor, broke his bedroom door and ransacked the room and took his passport away. They came back to the sitting room and broke the chairs and crushed his tv set. They came out onto the corridor where they then turned their anger at Sani Mohammed’s bulldog which is trained and shot it to death and then left the house,” he told Kumasi based Abusua FM’s Osei Kwadwo in an interview.

The family of Sani Mohammed subsequently lodged a report with the Ashanti Regional Police Command over the incident demanding justice and a thorough investigation to be carried out.

The family has vowed to take legal action against the Police if the perpetrators are not brought to book.

However, the Public Relations Officer of the Ashanti Regional Police, ASP Godwin Ahianyo said the command has not deployed any police officer to the house of Sani Mohammed.

It would be recalled that Police in Ashanti Region declared 13 members of “the Hawks” including Sani Mohammed wanted, following the shooting to death of Wasiu a member of the Ashanti Regional NDC Taskforce at the party’s regional party office.

Sani Mohammed was the 2013 winner of TV 3’s Ghana Most Strongest Competition.
