NDC must apologize to Nana Addo for 'coffin mockery' – Group

A group of pastors who call themselves ‘Association of Ten Virgin Pastors’ have asked the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) to render an unqualified apology to the flagbearer of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), Nana Addo Dankwah Akufo-Addo for mocking him in a coffin at the party’s manifesto launch in Sunyani.

Some supporters of the NDC during the party's manifesto launch at the Sunyani Coronation Park were seen carrying a coffin covered with the posters of the NPP flagbearer, Nana Akufo-Addo.

It is unclear what message the supporters were seeking to communicate to their supporters and the entire world.

The party has also said they will retire Nana Akufo-Addo during this year’s election to 'kill his dreams' of leading the country.

The coffin was said to have been brought from Bole in the Northern Region which is the hometown of President John Mahama.

The General Secretary of the ten virgin pastors, Apostle Job Antwi in an interview on Accra-based Okay FM condemned the act describing it as ‘barbaric’.

According to him, spiritually the conduct of the NDC supporters is a bad omen which may affect the fortunes of the NDC and hence it is important that they apologize to him (Nana Addo) immediately to avert any curse that might come on the NDC and Ghana as a whole.

“What these NDC supporters did is a very bad omen for the country because I don’t see why political parties should do politics with coffins at party events. Why should they even think of carrying a coffin with Nana Addo’s posters on it?

“They need to apologize immediately to Nana Addo to forgive them to avert any curse which may come upon the country and the party because of the coffin of Nana Addo they carried at the event,” Apostle Antwi explained.

He continued that: “we are all praying for a peaceful election this year and so politics like that should not be entertained at all”.
