A national vice chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Chief Sofo Azorka, has revealed plans of suing the government for the inclusion of his name and group in the Vigilantism Bill.

According to him, the government has no evidence in law to describe his group as vigilante group.

The bill, which has been laid before Parliament, contains a number of clauses that make the funding, supporting and participating in vigilantism, offences punishable by law.

The bill has already listed a number of known vigilante groups, which are expected to follow laid down modalities to officially disband their membership within one month after the coming to force of the bill.

Sofo Azoka noted that he is speaking to his lawyers to challenge the draft bill should it be passed by parliament into a law, if the name ‘Azorka Boys’ is not deleted from the bill.

He vowed, “As for me, I want them to pass the bill, then I will call my lawyers to put it in the courts, I will sue them for putting my name in the bill, Wallahi.”
