First Deputy General Secretary of the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC), Koku Anyidoho has indicated that the ruling party will not mark its anniversary this year.

He explained the party’s 23rd anniversary celebration fixed for June 10, 2015, will not come off due to the twin disaster that hit the capital [Accra] last Wednesday.

“We [NDC] are mourning with families affected in the flood-fire inferno. We cannot celebrate whiles the country is in a state of mourning.

"Hopefully, the party will celebrate next year,” he told Okay FM’s "Ade Akye Abia" morning show host, Kwame Nkrumah Tikese.

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) is a social democratic political party in Ghana founded by Jerry John Rawlings, who was Head of State of Ghana from 1981 to 1993 and the President of Ghana from 1993 to 2001.

The government has set a three-day national mourning remembrance of the victims who lost their lives in the floods and fire disaster.
