A Deputy Minister of Information, James Agyenim-Boateng is claiming that the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) has delivered 85 percent of the promises made to Ghanaians hence deserves a second term in office to complete it.
He said the unprecedented record of the ruling party in three and half years ‘dwarfs’ the supposed achievements of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) in eight years.
Agyenim-Boateng made these remarks on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen programme Thursday.
The NDC has launched its Enhancing a Better Ghana manifesto in Ho in the Volta region promising to expand the economy at an accelerated pace and improve access to education.
The ruling party which is seeking re-election ahead of the December polls is confident Ghanaians will renew its mandate.
James Agyenim-Boateng who was at the manifesto launch said despite the NDC’s unprecedented achievements, it will not be complacent.
According to him, the ruling party will hit the ground running to canvass for votes in its bid to retain power in December.
Agyenim-Boateng contended that the NDC, unlike the NPP, delivers on its manifesto promises.
He cited among other things the removal of schools under trees, the implementation of the Single Spine Salary Structure (SSSS), free uniforms and exercise books, expand the school feeding programme, promised to provide schools with computers and Maths and Science scholarships to buttress his point.
The Deputy Information Minister indicated that the NPP has made lies and deceit a hallmark and thus Ghanaians must be wary of politicians who are promising heaven on earth.
He said the NPP’s 2008 manifesto promised to transform Nima into a residential area, build railway lines from the South to North, create jobs for the youth and many others but none of those saw the light of day, therefore they cannot be trusted to implement free Senior High School(SHS) if voted into power.
Agyenim-Boateng said Ghanaians have confidence in the ability of the NDC to faithfully govern the country.
