Police have launched investigations into circumstances that led to the murder of a man at James Town, near the Ghana National Fire Service Academy and Training School in Accra.

The deceased, who was later identified as Amadu Mohammed, was found on the pavement in the early hours of Tuesday with a deep cut.

The police say they are looking at all options, including the possibility that he could have been attacked elsewhere and dumped at the location.

Briefing DAILY GUIDE, Deputy Superintendent of Police, (DSP) Afia Tenge, the Accra Regional Police Public Relations Officer (PRO), said the police were called to the scene at about 1:05 am yesterday.

She said Police Information Room received information about the fatally wounded man.

DSP Tenge said the James Town Patrol Team quickly proceeded to the scene and saw him bleeding profusely.

DSP Tenge said that the man, believed to be 38-years-old, was found in an unconscious state, adding that “we then rushed him to the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital for treatment but he passed on shortly on arrival.”

The Accra Regional Police Public Relations Officer (PRO) said that a search conducted in his pocket revealed a mobile phone and key.

“The body was photographed and deposited at the Korle-Bu Hospital Morgue for preservation and autopsy,” she said.

Further investigations by the police later revealed that Amadu Mohammed, who was an Okada rider, was hired by an unknown person to a spot near the Fire Service Training School that fateful night.

The police suspect that Amadu was brutally attacked by the said passenger who is yet to be arrested.
