The National Democratic Congress (NDC) Member of Parliament (MP) Asawase constituency in the Ashanti Region, Hon. Mohammed Muntaka Mubarak is occupying his seat illegally, according to Ashanti Regional Chairman of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), Mr. Bernard Antwi Boasiako.

“In the 2016 elections, Muntaka used incumbency and political powers to bully NPP’s parliamentary candidate in the constituency” the NPP Regional Chairman popularly known as Chairman Wontumi alleged on Nhyira FM morning show MyNewsGh.com monitored.

He told host of ‘Kro Yimu Nsem’ political talk show Aduanaba Kofi Asante Ennin that the Minority Chief Whip is in the august House illegally and therefore will take steps to have him removed.

The NPP Regional Chairman therefore vowed to wrestle the Asawase seat from NDC come 2020 polls as the government continues to do more developmental projects for the people in the constituency.

According to him, he has resolved to win all the 47 constituencies in the Ashanti Region.

Currently, the NPP has 44 out of the 47 seats in parliament in the Ashanti region. The party has therefore launched a campaign “Operation 47/47” as a way of attaining all the seats in the region during the 2020 general election.

“NPP has 44 seats in parliament out of the 47 in the Ashanti region. We want to secure the other three constituencies that the NDC has in the region. Muntaka and John Mahama should know that Asawase is part of the Ashanti region. Sekyere Afram Plains and Ejura are also part of the Ashanti region. It is for us, so we will take 47 out of the 47 seats in the region”. He warned.
