Man arrested for stealing onions for funeral

A 32-year-old man Abubakar Kaborro has been arrested by the Awutu Breku police for allegedly stealing one sack of onion at Awutu Breku Lorry station meant for a funeral rite at Bontrase over the weekend.

An eyewitness, Solomon Abbam, who narrated the incident to Adom News Kofi Adjei said, the owner of the onions told him she will send someone for come for it.

But a few minutes after the phone call, an unknown gentleman alighted from his cab claiming the sack belonged to his wife and therefore he was assigned to come pick it up.

Due to the persistence of the gentleman, Solomon said he gave the onion the to him. Few minutes after he had left, the owner of the onion came.

He then raised alarm and some young men around gave him a hot chase, accosted him and subjected him to severe beatings. But for the intervention of some old women in the town, the suspect would have been lynched.

The suspect was then handed over to the Awutu Breku police for further investigations.
