Mahama will soon announce candidature – Allotey Jacobs

Former President John Dramani Mahama will soon announce his candidature for the flagbearership of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Bernard Allotey Jacobs has said.

“Mahama will soon announce his candidature and I am sure it will be a good one. NPP is only tricking people with their policies and so we have to save them. John Mahama is a prophet and I am sure he will come and rescue us”, he said.

Some supporters of Mr. Mahama have consistently urged him to declare his intentions ahead of the next general elections.

So far, five NDC stalwarts have declared their readiness to lead the party into the polls, including Second Deputy Speaker and MP for Nadowli-Kaleo, Alban Bagbin, Dr. Spio-Garbrah, former minister of Trade and Industry; Education, and Communications.

Other hopefuls are Mr Sylvester Mensah, former Chief Executive of the National Health Insurance Authority; Professor Joshua Alabi, former MP for La-Dadekotopon and Nii Amasah Namoale, a former MP.

But speaking on Adom TV’s Morning Show “Badwam” Tuesday, Mr Allotey Jacobs said he believed Mr. Mahama would soon make his intentions known.

According to the NDC Central Regional Chair, the show of support and the outpouring of love for former President John Mahama shows that Ghanaians are now beginning to realize that not all that glitters is gold.

He further stated that traders and ordinary Ghanaians seemed not impressed with the way the Nana Akufo-Addo-led administration is handling the affairs of the country.
