Mahama to file nomination forms today

President John Mahama will today file his nomination for the upcoming presidential primaries of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC).

It is unclear whether the President will present the forms himself since it was picked up on his behalf by Vice President Amissah-Arthur.

The President is expected to face competition from a former constituency executive of the party George Boateng, who has revealed that he will pick the approved presidential forms today after party executives said the initial one he bought was invalid. President Mahama served almost four years as Vice President to the late John Evans Atta Mills who died barely four months to the 2012 presidential elections.

He served out that term and won the 2012 elections for a four-year term which ends in December 2016.

He will seek re-election to extend his mandate to 2020.

Meanwhile, the NDC will on Thursday close nominations to members interested in contesting the presidential and parliamentary primaries expected to take place on November 7, 2015.

The nominations which was opened a fortnight ago have seen a large number of party faithful rushing to pick forms to contest the parliamentary seats across the country.
