Macho men 'flex' muscles for peaceful election

Ahead of the December polls, bodybuilders also known as ‘macho men’ in Ghana have decided to support and work to promote peaceful elections.

The group will on Saturday organize a peace walk dubbed: ‘Flex for Peace’ from the 37 Military hospital through to some principal streets of Accra to the forecourt of the National theatre as part of their corporate social responsibility.

A silver and bronze medalist of ‘Man Ghana 2014,2015’, Oliver Rockson also joined forces with Courage Adukpo, the winner of this year’s ‘Ghana Strongest’ and other renowned local bodybuilders for the nationwide campaign.

A member of the body builder’s network, Jude Gadzepo disclosed this in an interview with Ohema Woyeje, host of Adom FM’s Mid-morning show “Work and Happiness” Friday.

He said most Ghanaians perceive body builders to be a violent group of people, who over the years have been used by politicians and some citizens to cause chaos, specifically at polling stations across.

Based on this backdrop, Jude Gadzekpo said the motive for the walk is to flex their muscles for peaceful general to change peoples perceptions about them.

The situation he noted, has become a great worry to them thus the need to join the campaign for peace before, during and after the December 7 general elections.

Meanwhile, Mr.Gadzekpo urged his fellow mates to strictly follow the aims and objectives of the program, which portrays “Peace & Justice” respectively.
He further urged them to engage in activities that will dispel the negative perceptions about machomen.

Mr.Gadzekpo suggested that, they could be appointed peace ambassadors and be part of the on-going national peace campaign to serve as a example to others.
