The Kwahuman Association in Massachusetts-United State of America (USA) has donated various items worth GH¢7,000.00 to the Hweehwee D/A Basic School in the Kwahu East District of the Eastern Region.
The items included 30 dual desks, teachers’ tables and chairs, groceries and renovated two classrooms at the primary level.
The gesture was to help create an enabling environment for effective teaching and learning.
Dr Janet Koranteng Asare, the Acting Vice President of the Association, said the fundamental goal of the association was to improve the quality of life of children in deprived communities.
She said the association was established barely two years ago and plans to focus on education in rural areas and supporting brilliant but needy children.
She said they would do their best to support other fields such as health and promote other social interventions to enhance development in communities of the Kwahu area.
Dr Asare said the association would be liaising with other donors, institutions and non- governmental organizations to provide a library and an ICT laboratory for the school.
Mr Francis Quashie, the Headteacher, who received the items on behalf of the school, expressed joy and relief for the valuable donation.
He said for some time, instead of two students per a desk, the seating was rather one desk for four pupils and this made teaching and learning extremely difficult.
