Kotoko have officially confirmed their withdrawal from the tier 1 of the NC Special Competition.
The Reds could not come to terms with organizers of the competition who decided to fix their semi-final match game against Hearts of Oak at the Accra Sports Stadium.
Kotoko had requested for a natural ground and also a change in the gate proceeds, a plea the Normalization Committee refused to comply.
The Ghanaian giants have hence decided to pull out of the competition.
The Porcupine Warriors who finished second in the Premier A was expected to play Hearts of Oak on June 16 at the Accra Sports Stadium.
Meanwhile Karela United who are also billed to face Ashanti Gold in the other semi-final match is also reportedly threatening to withdraw from the competition over similar complaints.
The Normalization Committee is expected to react on the latest decision by Kotoko to eject themselves from the competition.
The winner of the Tier 1 in the NC Special Cup will be Ghana’s representative in the CAF Champions League next year.
Despite withdrawing from the Tier 1, the reigning Ghana FA Cup Champions will still participate in the Tier 2 where they have been able to make it to the last eight.
