Member of Parliament for Kintampo South, Felicia Adjei has urged opinion leaders and stakeholders within her constituency to increase the fight against the abuse of the girl child and women in the community.

The MP made this call when she visited her constituency to mark the International Women’s day celebration with them.

She used the opportunity to commend all the women and daughters of Kintampo and its environs for their contribution towards development in society.

Felicia Adjei charged all within the community to protect the rights of women and keep them out of harm or any form of abuse.

“As a member of Parliament for the good people of Kintampo, as a mother, it is my hope that we use today to reflect on the challenges facing our girls in schools, women at workplaces, our mothers at home and the general abuse that women go through so that adequate measures can be put in place to restore the dignity of the girl child.”

“All forms of domestic abuse including rape, defilement, physical abuse etc must be reported to the law enforcement agencies for prompt action to be taken,” she stressed.

She also noted that women ought to be respected at all times and at every level, and that they are the backbone of society.

This year’s International Day celebration is under the theme “Better for Balance”.
