Italian club Torino keen to extend Afriyie Acquah's contract

Italian club Torino FC are expected to extend the contract of Ghanaian midfielder Afriyie Acquah, according to reports.

According to reports, the Granata are keen on extending the stay of the xx-year-old at the Stadio Olimpico Grande Torino by further three years.

With interest in the enforcer from the English Premier League side Newcastle United, it’s understood coach Sinisa Mihajlovic is eager to tie down the former Sampdoria midfielder to a longer contract before the club embark on their preseason tour.

Acquah is thought to be happy in Turin having comfortably settled into life in the area.

Reports in Italy indicate Acquah’s agent Oliver Arthur will meet officials of Torino next week in Petrachi to agree on a deal.

Acquah has been key for the Serie A side after joining the club as a replacement for former captain Marco Benassi.

The 25-year-old’s contract expires in June 2019.

The former Ghana U20 midfielder has been in Italy since 2009 when he left Ghana Premier League side Bechem United to join Palermo.
